Website launch checklist

Interactive Maple

Before launching a website, check whether visitors can understand your offer, find an answer and contact you. Then check what search engines and measurement tools actually receive. Include both French and English in the review.

1. Test a complete visitor journey

Start on the homepage using a phone. Open a service, read the information needed to decide and reach the enquiry form. Record broken links, unclear labels and difficult touch targets. Repeat in the other language: the language switcher should open the equivalent page.

2. Verify a real enquiry

In a test environment, try an empty form, an invalid email address and a valid submission. Check the confirmation message and receipt by the business. A success animation or a click on Submit does not prove the enquiry arrived.

3. Check search visibility

Each important page needs a descriptive title, a clear main heading and links to related content. Before release, review canonical URLs, French–English alternatives and indexing rules. Keep a development copy out of search results, then review that protection during deployment.

4. Measure performance in context

Test service pages and forms as well as the homepage. A simulated test helps identify expensive images or scripts; it cannot replace real visitor measurements. Core Web Vitals cover loading, responsiveness and visual stability.

Keep a useful test record

  • Journey: starting page, action and expected outcome.
  • Test: device, language and date.
  • Issue: observed result and required correction.
  • Verification: a repeat test after the correction.

Is a 100 SEO score enough?

No. A score cannot confirm that your answers are useful, enquiries arrive or the site is comfortable to use on a phone. Treat it as an additional check.
